6 Reasons to Tune-Up Your AC in the Spring

Spring AC Tune-Up

Spring is almost here again, and in our Sarasota and Charlotte county service area, the weather is looking mighty fine. Summer seems far away as we enjoy the mild sunshine with a few cooler days of rain sprinkled in between. It seems strange, at this point, to think about air conditioning. But, whether we want to think about it or not, in the not-too-distant future your air conditioner will again come out of its winter slumber to battle on the front lines against the harsh heat and high humidity of the summer months. Time for an AC tune-up to prepare your system for the demands of another hot summer.

Some of you are asking, “Is it really necessary to tune up my air conditioner every year?” Here are six reasons why we recommend maintaining your system every spring, before the return of the heat:

  1. A Tune-Up will Jumpstart your AC
Your air conditioner has probably not been switched on for any length of time, if at all, during the milder winter season. What if an athlete, after sitting on the bench for an entire season, was suddenly expected to play the championship game with no prior warm-up? If your HVAC system has been hibernating since October or November last year, this period of dormancy has opened up opportunities for dust and debris build-up, or the development of a mechanical or electrical problem. A licensed HVAC technician will be able to clean your system and check for any issues, giving your AC a jumpstart into the hot season.

  2. An AC Tune-Up Will Reduce Your Risk of a Breakdown
Ever had your air conditioner just quit working, right when you needed it most? Having it tuned up before the summer can prevent this type of breakdown from occurring, as the technician will check for and alleviate any potential problems. Preventative maintenance is almost always far less costly than fixing an actual breakdown!

  3. Energy Efficiency will Increase, while Cooling Costs Decrease
The wintertime build-up of dust and debris on the air conditioner coils can cause your system to work less efficiency. By cleaning the coils and other critical mechanical parts, your technician can increase the operating efficiency of your air conditioner, and save you money on your energy bill.

  4. Indoor Air Quality will Improve
This same dust and debris can end up circulating through your home, causing an allergy flare-up for susceptible parties. Removing these pesky allergens will boost indoor air quality, improving your family’s comfort.

  5. Regular Maintenance can Increase Air Conditioner Lifespan
Not only will your air conditioner run more efficiently as a result of regular maintenance, but it will also last longer. Also, your air conditioner technician will be able to estimate how much more life your older air conditioner has in it. Find out more about our maintenance plan.

  6. Annual Maintenance is Recommended by the EPA and EnergyStar
If you think regular air conditioner maintenance is just a sales pitch formulated by HVAC companies to fatten their pocketbooks, think again. Both the EPA 1 and EnergyStar 2 recommend the regular, annual maintenance of your air conditioner for optimal performance.

So, with these reasons in mind, it only makes sense to tune up your homes air conditioning system now before the long hot humid summer cooling season begins. If you were going to drive across county you would have your car tuned up before the trip, not after, right? And for our seasonal friends, having a tuned-up HVAC system will give you peace of mind knowing everything is in order before you go back up north.

So, trust your next AC tune-up to a licensed, NATE-certified Kobie Complete technician. Kobie Complete Heating and Cooling is a Lennox Premiere Dealer, Lennox’s highest dealer category, with a customer satisfaction rating of over 98%. We also carry a Better Business Bureau rating of A, so you can be assured we will provide you and your family Quality, Value and most importantly Comfort. Call (941) 474-3961 to schedule your tune-up today, or find out more about our AC repair services.

Even though we highly recommend to have your AC maintenanced once or twice a year, we won’t let you down if you need an emergency ac repair in Port Charlotte or in the rest of our service area on the hottest day in the summer. Promise.
